Look up! The night has cleared away
How beautiful the dawn!
What seemed was always here to stay
At last is spent and gone

Such clarity the hindsight brings 
With light, such joy and peace
The good in friends providing wings
To fly as chains release

This treasure must be cherished now
Remembering this gift
In nights to come be mindful how 
Great burdens soon will lift

The world is crashing down on me
The soldier seemed to say
What used to be complacency
Now turned to great dismay

Perhaps a lack of vigilance 
Had found a way inside
And in a day of negligence
The gates burst open wide

Perhaps the soldier tried his best
But felt he was alone
Regardless, in this grueling test
His instinct was to groan

Fear not! He heard. You have a Friend
And many more to aid
This fire felt is not the end
He saw the darkness fade

Cast your cares upon the Lord
Receiving then His grace outpoured
Filling souls with strength and peace
Bonds and burdens to release

Weighing down the mind and soul
Anxious thoughts can fill the whole
Empty self with loving trust
Taking on what now we must

Love and joy will fill the heart
Finding what was sought to start
Ending where we once have trod
Endless Life to find in God

They seem to dance and sing
Echoing a common voice
With which all ages sing

Fill me with Your Love
I’m sorry for my clumsiness
Help me rise above

The clay I often fall upon
Raise my eyes to You
What once was weak becoming strong
Living Life anew

How often, sadly, that becomes a tomb
How precious people are, so much to cherish
How tragic when, dehumanized, they perish

Thy Love stay with me through the night
And wake me with the morning’s light”

Burdened by the work of day
Weary, gently down I lay
Keep me in Your loving care
Rescue me from every snare

Entering now this night so dark
Dreams my soul to soon embark
Joy and Peace: now fill my mind
Morning’s Light again to find
