Beautiful Love

9/29/23

Why give heed to tugs that lead astray?
Beauty fills the pure and noble Way
Love beyond compare and blissful joy
Is worth all energies we can employ

Attractiveness of wayward gold and sweets
Can often lead to miserable defeats
They fade away so quickly when pursued
And leave us in an empty, wretched mood

While arduous, the path of Love is full
Of joy, with light and peace to make us whole
What heights we reach when finally we aim
For Love, so beautiful, from which we came

Astray

9/27/23

When one begins to go astray
There’s hope to still resume the Way
Tugs and pulls may win the hour
Yet they need not have full power

Often there may feel the need
To give such tugs an undue heed
Hindsight shows they do not last
Forever, so hold strong and fast

Victory is sweet when won
Battles lost? Don’t call it done
Rising, seeking help from friends
Persevere toward worthwhile ends

Burden

8/27/23

Let my cry come unto You
This deep prayer is overdue
Burdened past my strength, I sigh
Hoping that the end is nigh

Sprinting long, I’ve hit a wall
Smashing, breaking: What a fall!
Feeling helpless, reaching out
Let me not Your aid now doubt

Trusting, hoping, crying more
Better things are soon in store
Knowing that in Your great Love
Life is set toward Heav’n above

Running

8/20/23

I’m sorry for running away all the time
And shying away from the slope I should climb
Turning around I now take up the task
Of bearing whatever You lovingly ask

Embracing this load I’m now running to You
The One who gives joy and makes everything new
Until, at last: I see Your face
In Your eternal dwelling place

Generous Souls

8/12/23

Thank You so much for these generous souls
For country they serve and they count not the tolls
For family they give and protect all they can
For You they oft lay down their life, short in span

How quickly I am to find cause for complaint
While this soldier I see is becoming a saint
From now until death let me give all my life
To serve to the utmost through peace and through strife

How She Shines

8/13/23

How the face of this Blessed one shines!
Looking up as for God her soul pines
Such a beautiful Mother we see!
So compassionate and loving is she

Immaculate, prudent and fair
With mercy and such tender care
Her love is as deep as the sea
Can’t we better children now be?
