Dozen Years

12/27/22

Dozen years have gone so fast
Dozens more I hope to last
Faithfulness I ask of You
Help me till my life is through

Miracles and gifts abound
Even in myself are found
Only by Your grace I’m here
Seeing wonders now held dear

Weak and poor I look to You
Seeking light and strength anew
Marching toward vocation’s goal
Giving self complete and whole

Redeemer Rejected

7/17/22

A Savior came but promptly was denied;
The world preferred to in the darkness hide
A path of goodness, He to us bestowed
To Calvary he went, with heavy load

A Man who they said did all things so well
Condemned while wicked thieves escape their cell
Forgiveness, Love and Peace He came to bring
Yet to the gallows went with scourge and sting

He showed them paths of peace to walk along
But they declared a war in that great throng
A Light burst forth amid expectant crowd
But this they cast amid the darkest shroud

This Shepherd, who Himself is King of Love
With Peace, come down in likeness of a dove
Is lashed and beaten, scorned with utter hate
With thorns they crown their King and death await

To us, this Slave has come to free from sin
They bind him to a Cross: they nail Him in!
He took on flesh that He may give us Life
But we repaid with death and wretched strife!

Alas!  What deepened sorrow fills me now!
How could such consequences You allow?
What man or woman could now fail to weep
At such a sight as You Your promise keep?

You could have saved us in a simpler way
But unto death Your Son sought those astray
In such great Love, You gain Your victory
If only I could do the same for Thee!

King is Born

12/25/22

In a little manger born
King of Kings is thus adorned
Wrapped in swaddling clothes He glows
With a light the Star bestows

Shepherds keep their watch by night
O’er this Lamb who shines so bright
Kings from distant lands now come
Bearing gifts of precious sum

Mary, Joseph, little Child
Shining in this world defiled
Help us imitate your Love
Hearts held firm to Heav’n above

Blessed Father, Blessed King

12/3/22

Blessed Father, Blessed King
Fast to You I ever cling
Fill me with your holy Love
Raise my eyes to Heav’n above

Lest I ever from You part
Set afire my little heart
Strength from You I’ve come to know
My whole life to You I owe

Darkness may I leave behind
Your true Light to ever find
Till at last I come to see
God unveiled eternally

Too Nice

11/26/22

A man perceived his folly more than twice
And realized he was simply far too nice
His trust he gave without a second thought
Which led to great deception towards him wrought

Perhaps initially it made more sense
But failed repeatedly, ‘twas no defense;
He should have known deception when he’d seen
And changed his expectations, far more keen

Hide and Seek

11/25/22

Dear God, I ask, how is it that You hide?
It seems that You so quietly abide
With countless souls who seem so far from You
Are those who know You really now so few?

While on the Cross, Divinity was hid
And now Your seen Humanity is rid
While many seek, they seem to darkness find
Do You desire them to be so blind?

My child, how can I hide my Love from you?
I only want what’s holy, good and true
If I went further in my great display
Your freedom, then, to love would go away

I know that many seem so far from Love
But views are better here from up above
Perspective held in this eternity
Sees perfect good in this Divinity

If I completely fit inside your mind
Would I not be so small a God to find?
Yes, those who seek me truly gain reward
Within their heart they find a treasure stored

Take heart, my child, and trust in my designs
Not all is lost.  In fact, a Light now shines
My Love and grace accounts for every soul
Who seeks me, sea to sea and pole to pole

Light Along the Path

11/25/22

Thank You, Lord, for shining forth Your Light
I wandered quite a while in the night
At last what long had troubled me resolved
And peace filled every faculty involved

Remain in me through all the length of days
While I still wander, lest this poor one strays
And lead with me my friends along this path
That we may reach a blessed aftermath
